Sossusvlei, Namibia

Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan which is located in Namibia, Africa. It is a spectacular tourist attraction which is surrounded by large red dunes. Sometimes, those red dunes reach almost 400 meters which makes them the highest in the world. The name literally means ‘dead-end marsh’ as the dunes prevent the Tsauchab River to go any further, which creates a dead-end for the river. The red dunes and the place the dunes meet the river, especially in rainy seasons, provide wonderful images for photographic enthusiasts. Even though it has a dry climate due to desert conditions, many plants and animals which have adapted to the area can be found in Sossusvlei.
