El Yunque Rain Forest, Puerto Rico

El Yunque National Forest is a forest which used to be known as the Caribbean National Forest. It is located in the northeast of Puerto Rico, on the slopes of the Sierra de Luquillo mountains. It covers an area of 113.32 square kilometers which makes it the largest public land in Puerto Rico. The highest peak in the forest is 1.065 meters above the sea level. El Yunque can be considered as equivalent to Mount Olympus as the indigenous people who used to live there believed that it was the throne of their god Yúcahu.
